Parish Donates Easter Baskets for CCLI Programs

Notre Dame in New Hyde Park is a generous parish that often helps other parishes and organizations. During Lent, the Parish Social Ministry Office at Notre Dame offered many opportunities to practice almsgiving, including one benefiting three of the programs of Catholic Charities of Long Island.

“We know the need is great in the Catholic Charities communities of Project Independence, Project Veterans Independence and Special Needs Housing, which is why we selected them and were happy to help,” said Dee Farishian, director of Parish Social Ministry at Notre Dame.

The programs help homeless individuals and families coping with mental illness and other issues to find housing and receive ongoing support and counseling.

Cooperation is alive at Notre Dame parish, where Father John J. McCartney serves as pastor. Members of the Notre Dame Senior Group, which recently resumed operations in the newly opened parish center, lent their hands to pack the 30 Easter baskets for children and teens in the CCLI programs. The baskets were purchased by the Parish Social Ministry Office, and parishioners and Notre Dame Girl Scouts took up a collection for candy treats.

Thank you to the generous parishioners of Notre Dame for remembering CCLI and the families of our programs. A blessed Easter to you all.
